The Untangled Life

The bay house, the boat at the dock, the place up north, and the people who keep it all running. A well-lived life has a lot of threads. Philo is the Home Concierge that holds them together.

By Benito Esquenazi

It's a Tuesday in late summer. The pool heater is making that noise again. The boat needs attention before the weekend. The house manager keeps a notebook, the housekeeper reads Spanish, the landscaper texts in English, and the second home has been closed since May. None of it is hard. All of it is yours to remember.

This is the quiet tax of a full life. The more you have, the more threads there are to hold: homes, staff, vendors, and a family that comes and goes with the seasons. Most of us hold them in our heads, in group chats and on the backs of envelopes. Things get done, mostly. Some fall through. And the person keeping track is usually the one with the least time to spare.

Philo was made for exactly this.

Someone you can ask

Philo is a Home Concierge. It isn't software you open and fill in. It's someone you talk to. You tell Philo what you need in your own words, by message or by voice, and Philo takes it from there.

A tool waits for you. An agent acts for you.

An agent, not a tool

People in technology call this "agentic," and the word matters. Philo turns plain words into tasks with the right person, the right place and the right day. It breaks bigger jobs into steps and sets up the chores that repeat every week. When a task has a time, Philo sends a calendar invitation, and if the date moves, the invitation moves with it.

Then it follows through. Philo sends a reminder when a task with a set time is due, puts anything overdue first in the next morning’s briefing, and sends a notice when a routine is missed. Each morning brings a short briefing, and each week a look at the week ahead. When the housekeeper reports that something in the house has stopped working, Philo tells the owner and lets the housekeeper know it did.

It is careful, too. Philo never invents a deadline; if it doesn't know when, it asks. If something similar is already on the list, it says so before adding more. Each person sees what is theirs to see.

Every language in the house

Miami households often run in more than one language, and Philo handles that quietly. Write a task in English and your housekeeper reads it in Spanish. Your house manager can read the same task in Italian. Nobody manages a translation step.

Woven into a life

We built Philo on a simple belief: the value lives in the relationship people form with it. Philo is warm, brief and unhurried, with a little elegance, and it is there at any hour. It is meant to become part of the fabric of how a household runs.

A life with many threads is a good life. It reflects everything you've built and everyone who helps you keep it. Philo doesn't ask you to simplify that life. It takes the threads off your mind and keeps them in hand.

About the founder

Benito Esquenazi was born in Cuba and came to Miami Beach as a child in the 1960s. He grew up there, graduated from Miami Beach High with the class of ’79, and those South Florida years shaped him as an artist: the woven threads and 1970s posters on these pages come straight from them. He went on to art school at Pratt Institute in New York and was part of the downtown New York art scene of the 1980s and 1990s.

With the dot-com era, he built a career as a management consultant and earned an MBA from NYU Poly, going on to spend more than 30 years in IT building customer-first IT asset and service management platforms for the enterprise. He has been an artist for more than 50 years and still makes and exhibits his work.

“With the advent of agentic technology, I could bring my artist’s first-principles thinking together with the systems thinking I developed over 30 years in IT, and build one cohesive platform that is agent-first, with the agent at the core of the Philo product and operating system.”

Philo brings both halves of that life together: an artist’s first-principles thinking and a systems architect’s discipline. Benito is the founder of RobotBird, which makes Philo.
